Before Day 1

There are a few things you might be asked to do before your first day.

💻 Set up your laptop

HR will send instructions in an email in the form of a detailed pdf around a week before your start date. Your new laptop should come with some pre-installed software.

If you are getting a MacBook, make sure that the instructions you get sent are for a Mac. If not, ask HR for the correct set. Some steps will be different to those for a Windows machine. Also note that the majority of software you will need to install, including the Company Portal, Microsoft 365, ZScaler, FireEye, etc. might work better on a Windows machine, so it’s a good idea to set aside some time to make sure you have set everything up correctly. If you’re unsure about anything, check with your team. If you lock yourself out of your account or otherwise need help troubleshooting, contact Tech Support - see the Tech Support section.

📇 Get your employee ID

This will be issued to you by HR and should be included in the welcome email that contains instructions about setting up your laptop and workplace. It’s a 7-digit numeric ID, which you will need all the time, so it’s a good idea to memorise it and/or store it securely.

🔑 Set up your password

This is the password you will need to log into your email, internal systems, Teams, and the rest of the Microsoft 365 suite. Initially, you will receive a temporary password from your manager. You should then reset it here.

🔐 Set up PingID

PingID is an app you can get on your phone. It’s used for two-factor authentication and you will need it most of the time that SSO is required.
